Serves to relax and calm the sympathetic nervous system. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the sympathetic nervous system is related to the expansive, fiery ‘Yang’ energy. When our sympathetic nervous system is over-stimulated, agitation and poor sleep can be experienced.
Studies with the inhalation of small quantities of essential oils such as True Lavender have demonstrated that both REM (‘’rapid eye movement’’ or dream sleep) and non-REM sleep are positively improved, leading to a refreshing sleep in the case of mild insomnia. Common sleep medications, such as benzodiazepine drugs, are powerful, but they disturb REM sleep, often leading to grogginess and ‘’hangover’’ the following day, as well as leading to dependence if over-used.

Directions of Use-
For helping to promote sleep: add 5 - 15 drops to an essential oil diffuser. Place this in the bedroom and turn it on about fifteen minutes before you go to bed.
Depending on the type of diffuser used, the diffuser may be used with a timer that turns off the diffuser in one to two hours or left on throughout the night.
Additional:
For use on the body: Sleep Well Blend can be used to create a massage oil blend. Use from 8 to 16 drops (about 2.5% to 5%) added to 10mL of a good quality vegetable oil.It can be used with a relaxation massage application, to the whole body or selected areas.
This massage blend can also be self-applied, best applied to the abdomen and the heart area.
For a relaxing bath: Fill the bath and then add 5 to 8 drops of Sleep Well Blend to the bath water. Mix the surface of the water with your hand to make sure it is dispersed.
The essential oils in the bath will penetrate the skin to some degree and the warm bath water helps to evaporate some of the essential oil to release their aroma.
Alternatively, you can mix in 5 to 8 drops of the Sleep Well Blend to 1 or 2mL of a good quality vegetable oil (such as Apricot Oil) first and then mix into the bath water.
This method prevents any small risk of skin irritation from undiluted essential oils and adds the benefits of a vegetable oil on your skin.
